In theory, shouldn't a normalmap solve the crappy smoothshading you get with any of these version? I mean, some of them which are sharing same smoothing areas look crap due to the lack of polygons and extreme angles right? When these are compared to a highres perfectly smoothed version shouldn't the normal map neutralize…
Is that your model? I think the lip sync looks fairly good so far. What may be throwing it off a bit, could be the shape the mouth is modeled in. It might be a tad too wide in its neutral shape. Also there might be some issue with the timing and off-setting the movements a few frames from the sound might help. Not sure…
Haha 3D glasses YEAH! Here's what I have. The colored bits (ref and green here) come from a multiply layer. I have a few different mouthes (with and without lipstick, smiling and neutral = 4) but also have variants with the cast shadow of the visor painted in. It could go without tho. I guess I can make you a .ma?
Hi all, I'm new to 3D modeling and I'm using Autodesk Maya for character modeling. I simply wanted to know that should I model clothes within the Maya or is there any best alternate tool that I should use for modeling clothes. Thanks! (sorry if this question's stupid, I already mentioned I'm new  )
So, I really need to stop procrastinating and just do a proper character. So I decided to pick one from one of the previous character art challenges. Q-peng's "blade nare" concept. For now, I'm just aiming to push it as far as I can go and see what my limits are. I annotated this to roughly work out the proportions. I'm…
Cheers man! I'm gonna show this quick progress Puush; got the chains, his weapon and his lantern blocked out now, all thats left is the padlock and ring on the lantern and real high poly is good to go! (Hands are hidden as they currently get in the way of the chains; the chains will be put in a more proper neutral position…
Thanks for the breakdown Duncan! You really managed to get the rashes/skin to look nasty, good job on that ;) One question though, did you bake down all the arms separately and already posed? Or did you bake just one arm in a neutral pose and then later copied it 3 times and posed them into their final poses?
Holly Mellor and braintrain, Thanks, that's really motivating to hear :) Finally some more work on this. Aside from some proportion changes I finally started to face. Still a lot to fix (armpits because dynamesh welds them together  ) and the eyelids are really WIP as well. As always, any kind of critique is…
In regards to scale, you may want to consider putting in a dummy to use as a reference, the gun as far as I remember is not that big. Meanwhile some wires and a neutral grey background will tell us more about what you have there. There are also lot's of other MP5s posted on this forum you can search for for better…
Add some hue variation to the skin. It's too flat and uniform right now. Your hair doesn't seem to have enough volume, so it looks like your character's head seems flatter than it should be. Also, avoid the white to red gradient background. Use something more neutral, like a gray background.
