Hmm...I suppose it's just how I work. I can move very fluidly through a viewport with Maya/Max/Zbrush, etc without misclicking or misplacing things, but for some reason I was finding myself placing unwanted tiles while moving the camera around, for example, in Crocotile. Nah, they're just hand drawn. I'm working in Manga Studio, and drawing everything by hand, blocking out my shapes then cutting out the lit areas(since there will be a lot of stuff in the dark due to it being lit by the moon, it's easier to cut out the detail than to draw it in). Thanks guys for the suggestions but I am just looking for a way to create macro unique terrain textures form low res aerial image or just a hand drawn something as a guide for AI . Team Fortress 2 comes very close to this; the environments aren't very detailed for a modern game and it has broad, visible brush strokes. Characters, on the other hand are sharp and detailed.
