I very much respect Sony and the positive impact the company has had on our industry. I could say the same for Microsoft and Activision. And any creative companies building, creating, and providing resources that fuel and enable a healthy economy of players and developers. Without a full view or understanding of the impact…
Looks great, the textures are nice and realistic. The headset foam could perhaps use a bit of wear since it looks brand new while the player looks used. Maybe some discolouration and/or wrinkles would make the foam look more cohesive with the rest. I really like it
Captain Nemo's diving helmet: A couple of minor issues to fix, but I'll be revisiting each asset prior to baking to make sure everything's ironed out. Since the rifle and the helmet are intended to be player-collectible items, here's the helmet mounted as it will appear in the office: Thanks again for everyone's feedback!
oh wow thats kinda sad to hear. but i guess with SWTOR coming out n all there's no point to compete. also considering that they lost most of their players when they decided to revamp the game (thats why i left), still you're right though, there are a lot of fond memories.
Like James says, in most cases the vents would not even be modeled into the low, let alone the gap. From the player's perspective it wouldn't even be visible anyway. Just let the normals take care of the vents. Its the perfect sort of simple detail a NM can do well.
A lot better than it used to. Valve have modelled entire stair cases now rather than brush them out. My favourite bit is how models cast shadows in players arm like this chainlink fence I put in cast all over the gun and hands.
It was really cool seeing all of this stuff. I love being able to follow the development of a game whilst it's still in production. I'm interested to see how immersive the game is. The screenshots allude to some pretty immersive gameplay but I'd imagine there's a lot of information the player needs to see as well.
Have you ever played Lego Stunt Rally or Trackmania? Could be fun to try and build a game like that in UDK with tilesets like the above. Basically it uses tiles like you've made but includes an editor which allows players to build their own tracks using them. Inspirational!
I completely lost interest in Alan Wake about half a year ago when they announced that the gameplay would be changed to appeal to a wide audience of console players. And IIRC Remedy stopped development on the PC version and responsibility now is Microsoft's who do not seem to touch that project at all.
Great point. One thing I'm curious about is if this was going into an engine or this is how it will play out in-game, would the random velocity gains be more acceptable? Because the player is deciding which moves to execute and when and the game can't obviously predict which move is going to happen next.
