Don't use dyntopo if you have a sufdivisionSurface or multiRez Modifier! You can control the resolution you're getting under the brush very well. There's 3 modes of Dynamic Topology, and 3 modes of how brush affects Dyntopo. Getting the combinations of theese you can achieve most any type of Dynamic topology you want.…
@MmAaXx Blender is horrible for me. First a Tool palette at the left side, then a Mesh Menü at the bottom and at the right side the deformer menü. Everything can be used to changes the Polygons in a simple Mesh. I dont know what reason exist to spread the menüs all over the Interface. The 3d cursor is nice but at the stage…
@fdfxd2 Thanks for the tips :D That U unwrap menu was everything I needed and more! ------- I've been unwrapping quite a few objects now and picking up some speed. To my delight, unwrapping things in Blender isn't quite as bad as I feared at the beginning. In fact, in some areas it's even faster than my previous methods in…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLnOBPVpG6c 3 DataTransfer mods. 1 for turning chamfers into fake flllets, 1 for hard edges(you can skip this one if you dont want hard egdes) and one for the surface fix. There's 2 source meshes one for the fake fillets and one for the uncut, undisturbed surface. DataTransfers are masked by…
Coming from Maya, I find the UV editing in Blender quite effective but a lot is still missing: For example, in version 2.81, there is no grid. In version 2.82, the grid is available to be able to view the different UDIMs, but the number of subdivisions cannot be changed. There is also no way to snap uvs on the grid.…
@f1r3w4rr10r See my weapon on the last page, almost 100 parts all baked in Blender with Bevel Shader and moved to Substance for final normal detailing. No custom normals to worry about on any of the pieces. Just remove the Edge Split(if it had one) and export with smoothing groups. Allow Substance/mikkT to build the…
Quick question: if I have an octagonal shape and I want to mirror a design on it to every face, is there a quick way to do it? Usual mirror happens on XYZ axis, so I can get to 4 faces quite easily. My alternative would be to duplicate the face and replace it manually. EDIT: actually, maybe instancing is the faster way,…
Honestly, I tried the Pie menus for a whole month and I couldn't find any benefits over my hotkey workflow. Quite the contrary. They slowed me down eventually. So I don't see what the fuzz is about them. But whatever floats your boat. Maybe it's for people who have a hard time to get used to a hotkey centric workflow…
@Justo 1) I think you are misunderstanding some basics here that might be a cause for your misconception. Seams in Blender are properties of edges. Most often you use them to mark where polygons should be split apart when unwrapping, but not all projections methods use them (on purpose). In fact, only the plain "Unwrap"…
@@f1r3w4rr10r Thanks for explaining :) Yeah, I think this is what I was getting at too. Don't worry, I already made a few hotkeys (and scripts where needed) to automate operations. Blender is so easy to mold to one's wishes, and that is so so powerful... About the Smart UV Project function. Isn't it just a half-way…
