Simple light baking problem
Have been fine with this in tutorials but struggling with my own scene with imported meshes. 3dsmax, copy your mesh, apply a standard material, check on wire, apply a push modifier and nudge it out a bit. Or use a quality viewport shader like 3point, or xholio's (however you spell his name) and turn on edged faces in the viewport. Or just take low quality screen grab with the diffuse turned off and turn on edged… -

aye, the saloon was the only environment I didn't make -_-; but yea I've always have trouble keeping normal details whenever I render out stuff mental ray. sometimes I lose a bit of diffuse details too. They look much crispier in high quality render view in Maya's model panel. Any suggestions for keeping details? -

Working towards a final version using just diffuse and normal. I've gone much more hand painted in my approach than I originally thought I would. Right now I'm starting to work on lighting and composition for the final images. Here are two directions, though I'm leaning towards the one with the orange-ish background. -

put in way more light in there ! there are many spots where you cant tell whats going on at all. and whats even more of a problem, the materials you want to show are realy hard read! maybe it could also hepl to lighten the diffuse values of your sourrounding room. like to see a new brighter more homogeniously lit version ! -

Mop, just relax and let it happen, you can't stop the general usage of normalmaps ;) they're fancier bumpmaps!, and they're generally made from the diffuse! One trick I _unfortunately_ was taught was that if I copied a normalmap and overlayed it onto itself, it would make the normalmap pop more. btw, has Jogshy been… -

Nother update, crits would be fantastic, this thing's due tomorrow at 3 so anything else to help push it would be great :D The bare metal has gotten rather dull from my gloss map... thinking I should pump it back up. The maps are the diffuse, specular, gloss/specular power mask, and Normal respectively. -

The proportions feel off. u should use a scale model. if i were u i would turn off all the normal maps. They have kind of gotten a bit out of hand. Try to just work on the textures diffuse. get the lighting right then kind of work your way in to normal maps. That exit sign is Hugh :0 -

SD gives me 4 maps, Diffuse, Spec, Normal and Glosiness but this is not the problem, i just have to merge the normal and gloss map in photoshop "like all PBSTextures for cryengine". Substnace Painter gives me also 4 maps but they work just fine within cryengine. Just the created Substance Designer maps are giving me this…
