Yeah, now that you mention it, I can see how one could fail recognizing this as a weapon at first glance. The handle has been a big problem and I'm trying to redesign it to make it more recognizable as one and more ergonomic. Yeah, that was part of the original concept art so I just modeled it. I have tried to come up with…
A lot of it has to do with personal tastes, when looking at concepts try and figure out what you enjoy about it. Is it the shape? The way it is rendered? The colour?. It gets pretty abstract for me at times. Like I'd enjoy how a person would render worn armor with a couple strokes (and then realise I just enjoy simplistic…
The reason to lock normals in Maya is so that you don't have to triangulate before baking, provided you're baking in Maya. If you don't lock normals, and then you triangulate when you export to your game engine, the mesh normals will change and cause smoothing errors. This is only something you would do at the very end…
@almighty_gir yea its great. i'm not trying to be a scrooge here. i do concept sculpts with it and its fun for that. but the example everyone gives is one mesh and your totally in charge and can do what ever you want. that never fucking happens tho. i'm not a concept artist i'm a modeler. the concepts done. if the concept…
I'll 2nd what Nate said, it's all good advice. Your poly modeling for the dragon skull and the dude with armor look pretty solid and interesting. Your sculpt is a big mess of random pinching, bulging, and flattening. The two things it looks like you are missing out on are 1. Solid anatomy knowledge. Doesn't matter if it's…
You can add another layer of protection to your system by using Sandboxie. Nice looks like it supports Windows 2000 - Windows 7, 32bit and 64bit, I think it used to be only XP 32bit. I also reccomend Malware Bytes it's simply awesome. Super Anti Spyware is another good anti malware app. It's real time protection will stack…
Bronco: The thing with the pants is, They are not wrinkled army fatigues or denim material, im my mind they are like wool slacks. I was looking at pictures on the web and when you have a pair of wool slacks on, there are hardly any wrinkles save the pleats. I know im tempted to put more wrinkles in, but would'nt that give…
Haven't done much on Cain this Weekend... Ah well... Finshed left secondary Arm: "Look Mom! New Hands!" Gotta rework the left side of his chest armor with the cables which is gonna be a major pain in my ass. *curse those damn ref pics with the arm in front* The beginning of the Shoulder Cannon: Still giving me troubles to…
Here here! I think a lot more can be done with vert animation ontop of bones with animated blend textures and animated UV's before we give it all up to a simulation. We have all of these things already in one form or another, but we don't have them hooked up working to blend at the right times on one character. I like the…
that image is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge! some stuff: YOu dont need to use a bump map in addition to a normal map. Take your bump info, grayscale it (color bump? eh?), and use the nvidia filter on it. Select your blue channel on that layer, adjust levels - White values = 127, and set that layer to…
