Thanks, Headus definitely helped identify my stretching issues. Turned out to require even more shells to fix, even after trying to place seams where grooves were. Still need practice I guess. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wbh9r8tjn6qwwu2/Rock_M_05_UVCorrectedHeadusIPT_LP.obj?dl=0
I would say you should practice your anatomy first and foremost. Nailing human anatomy for both male and female characters is essential. Judging from your human characters, you need a lot of work in this area. I would focus on that first before anything else.
Things are pretty busy with the holiday season. But I'd be up for it if you did a hand painted model without the typical girls, space marine, warrior topic. Been really focusing on improving my hand painted textures, and practice equals improvement. And I'd love doing a topic with humor.
Hey guys! here I want to share another character of mine. This is one of my personal characters, done just for fun and practice in spare time. Low poly mesh has around 7k tris and a 2k texture. In game mesh rendered in marmoset, hi poly in Keyshot.
Keep in mind you can also unwrap things without necessarily making a seam. (Also I believe I read a normality for UV unwraps is about 30% wasted. Always aim better, but don't feel bad if you can't get it any tighter. It comes with practice!)
I liked the new hand thingy. Made the combos cooler! DMC has never been a God of War, but that does not mean it's not a good game. By the way, did anyone else practically pop a boner when he stopped the giant fire demon's sword with his own? That was cool.
Welcome to Polycount! One suggestion I would have is to practice drawing faces from reference at various angles. You might also want to put ears on behind the mask in the second to last post, or add some sort of covering. The helmet that you posted looks really good!
Pretty much all of our contracts are "next gen" these days so you should have some stuff in your portfolio that includes normal and specular maps. If you are applying for an environment artist position, Zbrush is not a big deal but it is practically mandatory for a character artist to know Zbrush these days.
Thx Sage :-) Another one I've been working on... this one is designed to be projected into a horizontally tileable wall texture, although the pattern of the piping doesn't make sense, i just wanted to get a unique flow going. Practice makes perfect. And here's what the bake looked like
can I suggest that when you come to Japan, you should rent a mobile phone from the airport. it's only $50 and makes about 10,000% difference to your stay. Practically every payphone has been removed from Tokyo, they simply don't exist any more.
