Did some sword modeling/texturing practice a few weeks ago. Currently looking to plan out gigs for the next month or so. Shoot me an email if you have any questions. You can check out a real time preview at https://www.artstation.com/artwork/81Wzm.
Good to know Mop... I defiantly have read up on shelving, and I've tried it before... but the results weren't great... just because i still don't fully understand what each frequency represents... I have the base idea, just need to put it into practice more.
yes i am doing an alley way scene. They have been done before.. i am very aware of that. i am just doing it to practice my skills and hand it in as a project for tafe. also, i am looking for critiques.. not over done memes.. thanks :D
Here is the sebastien Lagrade blog.See "diffuse color" section point 2 "taking physical albedo value" http://seblagarde.wordpress.com/2011/08/17/feeding-a-physical-based-lighting-mode/ on Marmoset web site look in albedo section http://www.marmoset.co/toolbag/learn/pbr-practice
another speed sculpt! This time I was practicing the planes of the face. It came out pretty nice I think. Im finally understanding the side of the face, but Im still having huge issues with the eyes and a little bit with the nose. Done in 1.5 hours. crits are always appreciated :D
Not bad for a first head - don't worry about texturing right now, just concentrate on getting your facial anatomy looking correct first. Study loads of reference and then study some more, faces are one of the hardest things to model so they require a lot of practice. Good luck :)
@jose.fuentes none taken. thanks for picking a favourite piece, it gives me motivation. Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to practice a particular style until I can mimic that studio's style. @MrHobo Thanks for the advice. I'll hone my skills to the industry's standard before applying for jobs.
I'm actually a student so I have to really do it all at the moment. We do get a lot of contact time with doing modelling/UV work but not so much for texturing atm so I was really looking for stuff here to do quickly as practice. But thanks anyways :)
It's more about cost and practicality. Sixaxis wasn't expensive, and Move wasn't either (heck, you can get the full Wonderbook setup for £30). Kinect was £130 and is now not much cheaper (£100). It's an expensive piece of hardware that a lot of people have no interest in, and therefore don't want to pay for.
thx mr shipman I added a little more contrast but not too much. Ill probably do a night version that is very cool and one that has some warmer lights in it. Will be good practice! Gonna call daytime good and move on to night. Played around with warmer and cooler temps.
