Montreal's rent is very affordable. I pay ~$800/month for a nice sized 2 bedroom with hot water, stove and fridge included, but, smaller places can easily be found for ~500. Though... staying in Montreal past the end of the work permit limit is a bit more difficult. (Quebec has special extra rules on immigration) -

Actually they were going to plan to encrypt the wad files originally, but decided against it to see what the "hackers" would come up with in terms of map editors and the like (and wolf3d had a small, but unstable modding scene prior to Doom they were aware of). Only if you're working in a studio. Otherwise you can just pay $1500 ($900 around Christmas) for Modo plus CC subscription. Compared to paying ~$3500 for Maya, $800 for ZBrush, another ~$200 a month to get updates for Maya, and the CC subscription. Of course I think a studio would usually pay for that stuff for you, so... -

Holy shit 300 for a character. You are insane. I wouldn't do a wii type character for that little. If it involves high poly, game, and textures then man i wouldn't ask for less than 800-1200. I have done really small things in the past. Tables, rocks, etc that have paid 350-500. -

While I would love one, I do not currently have the funds to get one. Because correct me if I'm wrong they run from like $800 to $1000+? At this moment I'm still using a grapphire 2, and I would like to get a new tablet soon, most likely an intuos this time round. -
