No, Im just a user :) I make scripts (the PolySphere one is in Blender as of 2.6 ^^), use Blender a ton and try and keep my ear to the ground in regards to new features etc. Aside from that, I just try my best to lend a hand to my dev. friends as much as possible by testing new stuff and offering suggestions from an…
I've been using the Blender Experimental 2012 keymapping and I'm really loving it, so far my only problem has been that vertex painting doesn't seem to work with it. I just end up switching back to the blender defaults while I'm doing vertex coloring, then switch back again :P Anyone else having issues like that?
@fuiosg: yes! i totally agree! ive been using blender for a couple of years now and everytime i rotate or mirror something around a specific point (with the 3d cursor, of course), i wonder how other modelling apps do that or if there simply is no easier way to do that. maybe that is one of the few usability issues that…
I find it far easier to just D + V(c or x) to snap the pivot point in Maya, then rotate than to fiddle with getting the 3d cursor to work. In maya is extremely easy to move the pivot/center of any object and snap it right back, where as with blender its always a bit of a struggle. Thats one of the few peeves I have with…
I am really enjoying blender but there's one thing that is really driving me nuts : smoothing groups. The way Blender handles smoothing is really poor, lots of weird shading issues etc. I have to resort to export my meshes to Maya in order to obtain correct basic smoothing... Do you guys have any tip how to deal with them?
@RN I disaggree. If you're not broke and want to repay the community, or even developers (some good addons make it to the blender trunk ) this is a great way to do so. Blender is free on its own, doesn't that make software feel cheap? :) Just support the guys who are making the addons, know that often those are made not to…
melviso: the addon is updated you can now choose which texture to bake. We have added three new textures: Bent, Gradient and Opacity. pior: you can now switch between Blender Render and Cycles version. You will need Blender 2.79 to use the addon (it uses the principled BSDF). Some textures are now saved in Linear color…
It seems like such a fundamental and important thing. nGons speed up workflow so much. The Quads only argument is a total load of shit, especially since blender make triangles so much. I keep trying to go back to blender, but the modelling just feels outdated and awkward. its a shame because there is some epic stuff mixed…
Yeah, there doesn't seem to be a design task for it on the Blender maniphest. You could upvote this suggestion on the right-click select site if you haven't already. I don't miss that functionality though since I don't use gizmos in Blender. :S Using a shortcut for extrude faces along normals is very fast and offers fine…
Loving 2.83 and going to stick with it for a long time. It's been great to watch blender develop into the amazing tool it is today. Throwback to my thread in 2016 "Do any good artists use Blender?" when I had low expectations lol. I'd like to ask if anyone has good recommendations for evee or cycles tutorials I'd much…
