For such object you don't need Hi poly at all. Just "rounded corners', "bevel" or whatever it may be called shader. Almost evry 3d package or offline renderer has one. Arnold does for example. No cage necessary, no troubles with ray missing .

Can you verify that your high and low poly meshes match up? If they are not aligned correctly the ray-tracer may be hitting something unexpected. Also double check that for each group, there is a high and low poly mesh assigned and that those meshes are correct.
