POM is Parallax Occlusion Mapping, a technique that fakes a displacement effect in the pixel shader instead of doing actual geo displacement. Substance uses it by default when you have a height output with the OpenGL renderer. IMO, using an AO map would help these. With many PBR type game engines it lets the light get into…
I'm updating this thread incase anyone happens to come across this same problem. Even after fiddling with the graphics card driver, reinstalling, regediting my old directx versions, etc... the problem still persisted Finally, I discovered the problem came down to Microsofts IntelliPoint F*@#ing software. I uninstalled it…
1. I'd say both should work well, just make sure you get your edge splitting and UVs correct whichever way you choose to go. 2. Leave the smoothing setting at its default, I'm not entirely sure what it is, but you should let xnormal use your exported normals. 3. Same as #2. Use your normals that you've set yourself. 4. I…
The default Nitrous drivers can't be configured for some reason. If you switch to one of the other drivers (Direct3D, OpenGL) with the Choose Driver button, the configurations should be available. You'll have to restart Max before the driver change takes effect. I don't use Max enough to know how to resolve the issue…
Thanks for the Reply, I had missed a step that I was unaware of. the step I missed: From the second video.... In Matinee when I added the Director group then added the single keyFrame at the beginning. When the dropdown menu appears I accidentally left it at the default which is "DirGroup" I needed to change that drop down…
I did some more testing with the mesh>triangulate last night and figured out the problem was related to the object's history. I thought this was default behavior since it was happening with all my assets but it turns out that a freshly imported fbx from max needs history deleted before doing a triangulation- else it…
Are you using the default Normal matcap from Zbrush? Try using http://download.pixologic01.com/download.php?f=/library/matcap/digitaldecoy/al_normal_map.zip instead. Also you have large details and some medium details. But you need that third level of fine (smaller) details to make the texture readable on multiple levels.…
I suposed you are jumping to some kind of fancy Mental ray/vray setup. Screw all that, focus on simple default lights, cranking up the ambiant, focusing on a striking photo setup. You don't need anything fancy at all. Also do you need to animate all that? If not, simply lock your camera and render everything in passes…
dont mention the "b" name mor ethan threee times....hes like that other B...beetlejuice DONT worry abou tthe rest for now...forget textures etc... what I want to see is the plain geometry smoothed and shaded with default lighting and custom lighting... dont bother with renders (veiwport)...this is to get a feel for the…
The best addon I ever bought was Pie Menu Editor by Raoao for Blender. It's only $12 and is easily worth ten times that. It obviously allows you to create pie menus but it goes much much further and allows you to fully customise UI, macros, sticky keys, stack keys, hide default ui elements and so much more with no…
