Max's quad chamfer versus Maya Poly bevel. I messed around with the settings but I can't get it to work in maya. Any tips or tricks? I will be doing alot of hardsurface in maya. Do you guys use poly-bevels or creases?
Hi, I finished the armor bones, and I made a paintover to make the gold hardsurface, I'll made this parts in Blender I hope this shapes of the ornaments still works. Armor Bones: Paintover: https://www.artstation.com/yeibodmer https://www.instagram.com/yeibodmer3d
The hardsurface/clothes are excellent, very well done! A few pieces of feedback - Face feels a bit blobby and not as defined as it could be. Is that part still WIP? - Back of the cape has some obvious symmetry/butterflying, can you break that up at all?
Hi, Rikard! Someone might give you flack for the impracticality of the breast plate, but this looks great so far. Her chin does seem a little recessed and pulled down too much, though. Really digging your hardsurface skills.
Started doing the hardsurface modeling in Maya. I gave the helmet more cushion between the helmet and her face. Hopefully another session and I can get this into zbrush and cleaned up a tad!
Started making the weapon, still screwin around with it gota make the hardsurface pieces in max DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW MUCH POLYS AND HOW BIG THE TEXTURES ARE FOR THE WEAPON,WOULD BE GREAT HELP:)
I like your work and also the simplicity of your portfolio. You seem to have a good all around body of work, some hardsurface modelling, some sculpting etc. Good luck. :)
Ye, that's smoothing errors which you get when doing hardsurface normalmaps. I wrote an article explaining them and possible solutions, hope it helps :) http://www.svartberg.com/tutorials/article_normalmaps/normalmaps.html
The sharp edges should not be a problem. Mudbox can give some nice results for hardsurfaces, but it's not always easy. The control you get from using good ol' max is nice, but it's up to you
