I have taken the model into Substance painter and started with the design after cleaning up the outside. I unfortunately struggled with this initially so I will plan to make an ID map in Photoshop. I have also started testing it in a more fleshed out scene. I used megascans and an automotive material pack to get these…
@Yerus "Unbiased and bucket are exact synonyms" Not sure where to go from here. Agree to disagree? Else you'd have to help me understand where you're coming from. How do you define bucket? Are you using a specific rendering software? Something from Blender? Yes, render speed is due to performance, but you initially…
Actions are recorded in 3d space in Substance Painter so any action you did on the viewport will be invalidated if your mesh changes drastically, since there won't be any geometry left where you initially clicked when you selected/painted stuff. One trick you could use is importing a scene with both the exploded and non…
Dave wasn't at all in my refs, but I see it too now. And @MrHobo, I used a bunch of different refs, but the biggest one especially early was Hakim Kea-Kazim (I might have spelled that wrong. He plays an awesome character in black sails which I was watching at the time. I think it's more visible in the high poly render…
Thank you guys for the critique. Mistry10 I have to have all of my initial work done by the first week of Nov, then I have 6wks after that to polish it up. Yeah JamieRIOT I plan to sculpt most of the meshes in Mudbox. Most of the meshes like the columns are high poly right now because I haven't retopologized them yet.…
I've found a solution to my problem. I initially exported my workable obj from several submeshes in Maya. Combining the meshes and reexporting has made saving in Painter possible again, though it still pauses for a moment in the "Not Responding" state. I am using 9 2k texture sets, which sounds like it could be a…
I like pen, pencil, and/or non-photo blue pencil with either regular old paper or graph paper for the initial drawings to be quite honest. It's easier to make the marks that you want to make without having to adjust them afterwards. You'll need a scanner to get the results into your computer accurately though. For cleaning…
Shrike I am a little confused as to what the difference is between a bitfont and a webfont. I am assuming you are talking about www.yurialexander.com - I'm not sure which is which. As for the second/alt design, you can ignore the words on that page, sorry I didn't realize I had them up. It would just be the clean headers,…
It's more a case of knowing when to use Dynamesh, as opposed to what res to use. DM is great for getting initial forms, or for hard-surface pieces, or for concepting. If I'm using DM for organic sculpting I'll use it until I feel it's time to ZRM or retopo. It's a case by case and something you really need to figure out…
I'm having similar problems with 3D0. Except in my case it works initially and then quits working. Using Photoshop CS6 Basically when I begin a new project it works just fine and then once I save my project the custom mesh disappears from 3DO. From here clicking the "Reimport Mesh" menu option doesn't do anything, and if I…
