If you want to do characters, even stylized, you need to study human anatomy. Don't wait! With regards to hand painting, check out http://www.ctrlpaint.com/ Just practice painting in 2d. Focus on form, values, and study color theory as well. Best of luck! :)
This 1000% One thing i forgot to mention in my first post is that getting good at making projects is not the same as being a good artist. It takes time, practice and a lot of failures. It's best to make these mistakes as you develop as an artist. As if you don't you'll never start.
Here is another prop that I am also on with at the moment. I just wanted to create some simple props in order to practice and demonstrate my hand painted texturing skills. Treasure chest below....806 Tris. Your comments and crits always appreciated Cheers
This is not good. .Ztools are the 'last line of defence' I exclusively save .ztools as they are practically invincible and I've never had a file fail(since ZB 1.52) Have a read through this thread - particularly HiTekJeff's responses. http://forums.cgsociety.org/archive/index.php?t-1124252.html
Thank you! I'm not 100% sure how I will texture it yet, first I'm going to finish the exterior and create the interior. For texturing I'm going to look into PBR, texturing is not my strongest point so I'm going to use this project as a texturing practice as well.
I think the idea is not to let it become a crutch. Don't get stuck only being able to texture using photos. It helps to branch out and be able to make a good texture without relying on heavy photo sourcing, but photo sourcing itself isn't a bad practice.
Haven't posted something in a while so here's a warm up sculpt. took me about 7-10 mins on a plane. I was intending to use it for vector displacement map practice but I forgot to stop the MP target beforehand so......yea....... Nyhooo xD
Today speed sculpt, it’s been a while since I don’t sit down to do something for fun and practice. I hope to do the retopo and bakes once I get a break again. Base mesh done in Blender, sculpt and polypaint done in zbrush. model
Thanks! I don't know where I'll take this whole project. Really, this is just an ongoing project to act as an artistic outlet. I may give the finished models to some people who want animation practice or maybe just keep them all to myself...
Thank you guys for such words! Lack of practice eats any skill. need to draw and model on daily basis but examsination session in the university is a bitch. will post much more stuff in the beginning of february. but now only two sheets of photoshop's paper :) have a nice day! :)
