The entire weapon looks way to banged up, plastic would not wear like that its very distracting as well/ I think a more sublte approach would help teh realism right now everything is very strong
I use Houdini quite often these days. Though, I'd still say photoshop is my main weapon outside of the engine/editor. Let me know if there are more specific things you wonder about game VFX.
This video was posted a while back, but it might give you some ideas for how to approach your weapon. http://www.livestream.com/vigilnights/video?clipId=pla_69d386b0-0c57-444a-a1e5-4c820a55e9d2&utm_source=lslibrary&utm_medium=ui-thumb
Started painting some textures!! Armor will be on one map, weapons and accessories on another, and face and beard on one smaller map. I hate UVing with a passion..... And now im going to bed. Goodnight. As always, comments and crits welcome!!
Weapon design has been finalized and published. Here are a some in-game shots! More images can be seen in the first post of this thread and on the workshop page. Workshop link here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=685476522
Great High poly!! My only problem is with those textures. The roughness map, for example, its values are low (the weapon looks wet). On the other hand, the materials look like plastic, which is great for some parts but not for others.
It sucks. Now it sucks more. I could never get use to the poor controls, slow movement, and the lack of weapon balancing. Always felt like I was getting my ass handed to me by the ones spending money.
All characters in Dota2 use this. But there are also plenty of other uses. For weapons I use it to draw attention to the important parts, same for props. It adds a very nice amount of depth to the object you apply it on. Not for everything and not just for characters.
I agree about some of the wear and tear on the weapon, but holy shit. Everything looks awesome. The presentation renders are really nice, what did you do them in? Any chance we can see some textures?
@seaseme- Thanks man! Glad it could be of some use, there are a couple of cool nuggets of information buried in here somewhere! @Neodement - Thanks man! Just gotta finalise the fabric and texture the weapon and he'll be all set I recon.
