You don't have to do or paint actual grayscale image. Sorry I used the word "grayscale" meaning actually that you can paint in a few shades of gray initially ( in RGB document). TLDR; artstation has some learning section go give it a look. If i had to guess cause who knows, i think figuring out a great lighting setup would work wonders for a lot of artworks even my own. Best I've heard is a friend of mine from church who nabbed a front desk job with Cloud Imperium, but that's mostly because she already had barista experience. Final image is dope :) I really like the skin material. Again I'm no character artist so take what I say with a grain of salt. When designing anything it's good practice to imagine how it would actually work. You can make a gun look cool pretty easily, but making it look cool and practical is taking it to the next level.… -

The texture, especially the normal, is way too noisy. that actually hides a lot of the details of the model and texture. Looking closely, i can see that you put some scratches, but because the rest of the material is so noisy they are lost. The concept has some really nice highlights on the edges, dont be afraid to paint…
