... It's here on Polycount and called Monthly Challenge. There's one for Character, for Environment, for Firearms, and a weekly one for Hardsurface stuff. You should join in. I think all of them are having concept voting for October now, in Pimp n Preview 3D.
The world needs more tutorials, nice work there JFletcher. One question, reffering the part where the character is illustrated with the parts done in PS and Zbrush, Im wondering, Did you do all of your normals in PS for the hardsurface part?
Right now im done withe the hardsurface modeling of the gun and am working on some little repair drones. my first one reminds me so much on a bug
I'm really digging the texturing here, very consistent color pallet. I'm sure that all the seams that might appear on your hardsurface assets will disappear if you brought them to CE3.
the highres wires like you asked. i try keeping quads as much as i can but since it was hardsurface armor and it doesn't deform it was easier to add triangles and control some of the surface
Finished this a little while ago, just got around to uploading! Hardsurface and Substance Designer practice - concept from Fallout 4. Two versions - this is the clean version from before fallout...
Could you use the highpoly to create a lowpoly eg remove all mesh smoothing and remove extra supporting loops? that might be the quickest way to get a good lowpoly of a hardsurface model.
That doesn't seem to work. I made an art post last week, and just tried adding #HardSurface to it. But when I click the hashtag to do a search, that very post is not listed in the results.
whats the best tool (around $500) for texture painting (both low and high poly, mainly for organic stuff but also hardsurface and others)? i have ZBrush, can't afford Mari.
