If you work modular create prefabs first then duplicate them in scene.. Sign that you working with prefab is that part name in hierarchy is in blue. That way you only store one copy of mesh and rest of data is just transforms...
Depends. If you are gonna make stairs modular, you can use unique texture for it. You can also use tileabe texture that can be shared along other objects. It really depend on what are you trying to achive.

Correct! Which is why this thread exists in the first place. It's great for creating interesting effects as an object moves through the world. I've got another tutorial coming down the pipe for something to help break up modular kits.
I'm going to go quite stylised as I think it will suit the concept. I'm looking forward to some mudbox sculpting with it :) I'm doing a super speedy paintover first to plan out all of the sections that can be modular and reused.
I would say do one of two things for it. Either add some some clutter and roadside props to make it into an interesting street side scene, or use the modular pieces you have already to construct a full building.
Incredible work. I was just wondering if you can show the breakdown of the pieces of the walls and ceiling. I've mainly had experiences with exterior modular stuff but I wanted to see how you constructed the base of the room with the assets.
Sometimes its better to separate it, especially if your using a skin shader. Well, that's just how we do things at work more specifically on next gen characters. It's also good for keeping things modular, for ease in variation.
Nice stuff so far! I suggest thinking a bit more modular, what you have is great, but with a few modifications you could take these few buildings and create an entire city block or city out of them.
