OK, it also hhas Loop Regularize, Bridging and curve and... Honestly...are you guys sure this program is free? I find it hard to believe Blender has next gen workflow and Autodesk products yet don't...
Thanks for that. Offset edge slide seems quickest, still have to delete the middle loop afterwards though but decent workaround. Hard to believe no pinch function exists after so many iterations of Blender though :(
Have you guys seen this addon? I haven't tried it yet, but from the video it seems like it could be a pretty nice time saver for hard-surface modeling in Blender. https://gumroad.com/l/hardops/#
Yeah, assigning creasing based on hard edges through scripting would probably be a very trivial thing to do for anyone familiar with Python. I will probably post a design doc about it on BlenderArtists in the future, as some kind soul would probably be more than willing to do it. As a matter of fact, a simple script…
Yeah, but having to keep a modifier on a model just for visualization purposes is a bit of a hindrance - for instance you would have to think about it each time you want to merge parts, split models, and so on ... The way I see things is : "the less brain noise, the better". As a matter of fact, after trying the "regular"…
WOW THIS SMOKE SIMULATION STUFF IS AWESOME! If I could only do one click baking instead of having to play the animation through, however... that'd be nice. Trying to create a 8 frame looped fire with it is hard.
Bit off-topic, but would it be hard for blender to color code UV wireframes in the UV editor-- based off the color of their material? I've been doing mechanical stuff lately and keep forgetting which piece is which.
Going to have to slap on 2.57 soon and play with looptools, yay. A hard surface modeling DVD is being released that looks pretty good. http://www.blendercookie.com/2011/04/08/vehicle-series-complete-and-available-for-purchase/
I don't have those yet, but it's hard to believe there's nothing like that natively...And like I said, the region_to_loop seems to be doing this correctly, but only when executed from the Script editor, for reasons I do not understand.
The advantage is not so much technical, and moreso that of visual feedback. When time is tight being able to show a somewhat accurate preview of the end result early on (hard edges) and then being able to convert that easily to smooth subd is a huge plus. As said it's not a big issue at the moment anyways since converting…
