A tip for MMB transform: don't keep clicking the button, click and hold>drag to the desired axis. It will dynamically snap to each axis and then you can release.(although it sounds like you've already released upon discovering this....... :D )
Thanks to all for the feedback! :) Regarding 'Auto Smooth' button, I probably have to rename it to something like 'Use Split Normals' or so, current name is too much limitative now… @JedTheKrampus “I'm a little bit confused as to what the custom split normals feature is for” - I’m a little bit confused by that question! :P…
guitarguy00 What's better in Modo? I tried UVing there last year and haven't found any real advantages . Unless I missed something. Packmaster does much better packing imo. Max "relax" option is totally redundant in Blender imo. Never feel a need for it. But my UV workflow usually almost automatic : 1 set auto smooth ,…
Will test that xray addon, thank you! Something else I noticed: its really hard to quickly distinguish visually whats a button and whats a slider/ input field e.g. in the properties of modifiers. Might be a good idea to make this more distinguishable. If I e.g. add a bevel modifier, and am looking for the angle limit or…
The active UV face is highlighted with small white dots all over it, both in UV and 3D view. You can make it so you don't have to select the whole mesh to see it in the UV view, though. Try activating this button:
For the tool shelf, even Maya doesn't have icons for everything, that's why you give the user the ability to create abbreviated text on iconless buttons. If it has that ability then they should just get it in trunk and worry about adding more icons afterwords.
Does Blender have a way to extend/shrink/walk selected edge loops/rings like in Max? For Max users, I'm talking about the arrow buttons here: The "Select More/Less" menu in Blender unfortunately doesn't have an equivalent.
Not sure if this is what you need but I hope so anyway. Click the arrow pointing down next to your list of particle systems and choose duplicate Alternatively you can just press the + button and then change the "Settings:" bit to the original particle system
Ok two more questions: 1) blender seems to select stuff that is million miles away. Is it possible to change the pick distance (single click)? 2) is it true that blender simply doesn't know (or care) what I might want to do? Say I select a bunch of vertices in the UV editor and click-drag on one of them to move -…
Yeah, but that's my point - this UX is backwards, the "edit Studio light button" and "Save as Studio Light" buttons are really not necessary. There should simply be a dropdown to set a given preset as current, and live editing of the preset from there with direct feedback in the viewport - as it was before. Fantastic news…
