I'm trying to model this shape and then bevel it. Beveling destroys the flat surface on top and makes these strange slopes at the corners. Is there a better way to do this?
Pretty much. half sphere with a flat top. modeled the box close to the sphere. cut a hole in the sphere for the connection, connected and cleaned the mesh.
This is high poly modeling practice so I need to model them in. If the pattern was on a flat surface it would be simple, but the plate itself is a cylinder... ???
@vaneir almost right. spline then extrude then convert to poly. If you just convert to poly you end up with a flat surface which you can extrude then. its just a matter of preference really and i think you work with maya right? so it doesnt make sense to go to deep into max terminology. so you want to deform the whole…
