You're going to get bad pinching until the indented bit in front of it is modelled in. The edge loops around that can run right into the front of the outer bit, and the inside can join onto the scalloped part.
You got a tri going there. Down there at this little plank you made the front go along as it does but that creates a tri. But the other pinch in the middle...i guess someone else got something for you there
I have a really nooby question. How do you end these kinds of support edges on cylinders, and not get the pinching as shown? I'm sure there is just something I am missing, but it's a problem a run into frequently >:(
blouskall: Just add more geo to round out your shape. When you have two loops close together like that it will always pinch unless there's a consistent or gradual falloff in the number of loops to their sides.
can anyone help me with this? it's pinching and i can't get it away, I saw up here a pentagon could maybe work but i can't figure out how to do it! probably very easy to solve! >_<
Hey all, first time poster in this thread. Been trying for way to long to get this shap right, any suggestions? I'm doing the high poly, so I need all the support edges for nice rounding, but I am getting a lot of pinching :( Here is the ref, and what I have so far. Maybe the pinching isn't noticeable and I am just nit…
i agree if its pure sub'd but for sculpting a grid like structure actually saves you from having to subdivide too many times and can really help avoid pinched details mayas sub'd modelling really excells at this
Fingus has the solution for your pinching, 2 posts above yours. As for the other someone might come around, I haven't dabbled into any of this yet so I can't help but I am enjoying reading this entire thread.
well you said you had pinching and i also happened to notice that you have edges that split quads into tris, removing those edges would couse absolutely nothing to change with your model but will improve the quality of the turbosmooth
You could probably add a support edge at the top. Should reduce the pinching. Maybe something like this? It's hard when you don't have the whole model, so someone else is gonna have to help you with the parts in circles.
