I've been using a node I created for bricks and stone with all kinds of custom parameters and feel this would be a good place to show off what it can do and try and get some critique on a material using it. I still need to get cracks set up with a Pixel Processor node.
I took a break from my current project to try this out. I didn't really go by any given references (I'm a rogue like that! >:D) and decided to just make some sort of brick wall. This is the first time I made a detailed material in SD such as this, so feedback is very welcome!
There's some cool and inspiring stuff here! Well done everyone, and thank you @3DKyle for organizing this! Here's my take on the bricks. I had a lot of fun figuring out Substance and playing with the render and light settings in Marmoset. Can't wait for the next one. And here's a little video for fun to see how…
Those are some truly nice realistic brick walls! Here's something close to what may just be my final after a nice c&c session at discord. Fairly new to substance so I'd love to hear any ideas and thoughts on improvements! @alexholmesl93 maybe a nice slope blur set to min would do the trick?
Hey :) awesome work from everyone so far! I've been working on some painted bricks, I am pretty happy with my height & normal so far, but struggling to get the colour to look good, especially in the grouting. I am going to try and get some subtle chipped paint, anyone got any tips?
Re-did my albedo with suggestions made here, and added some more height info. I'll push it further, but im a lot happier with them than my previous versions. I might need to heightlight hard edges more? Not sure. Also an issue with overlapping bricks that I need to fix, the sampler just needs tweaking
@"Kid.in.the.Dark" really nice work I would say the grout work looks a bit crumbly compared to the reference your using but still great @Ile looking good I think the lighter powder part at the bottom looks a bit procedural though maybe tweak that a little. @DanielB good start I'd say that the lighter line going down the…
Hey guys. I hope, i'm not to late for this challenge. I'm new to Substance Designer, so i've decided to stick with the topic original reference. Also, can you point me on some tutorial about exporting from substance to marmoset? I can't set my height map right, so bricks are just flat on sides of the cube, however in…
Its pretty good actually if you look at the shapes and cracks. A trick i use to make the basecolor/albedo is using the pick gradient option of a gradient node, and drag it across a part of a ref image (bricks) that i think has nice colouring. If you set the precision at 0 (somehow this makes it more precise :P ) you will…
@jessnado what do you mean by brick generator, do you mean a tile random or tile sampler node? What I think is generally used and what is used is a shape node going into a tile random or tile sampler etc node and then tweaked in there to get different sizes, rotation, height etc then that comes out and then slope blur and…
