These are a couple of examples I found that get some pretty interesting lighting from their hanger scenes. I think if you use the the spot lights hanging from the ceiling in your hanger scene to your advantage, you could get something pretty cool. especially with a bit of fog mimicking dust.
ah sorry, i'm obviously jumping the gun. that would be great cholden, as there's little documentation, just basic scene building/lighting/rendering would be great. basically I plan to create a fairly heavy foliage based scene soon, and cryengine seems to handle lighting way better than UDK
@jose.fuentes Thank you for the kind words. Thinking it is a photo was my goal. I wanted the viewer to do a double take. I plan to do more breakdown on the scene I am putting together as have time. I am hoping to get the same reaction but with a whole set dressed scene.
Hey man, love the scene. Looks great. From a beginners perspective I cant find anything wrong with it. I was wondering though Id love to learn how to setup my own scene and make my foliage, any chance you could breakdown how you did it a bit?
Well, now I'm working on the composition of the scene. And here is where I'm now. All comments and crits will be appreciated. And a side question. Does anyone know where to see polycount of particle systems in UDK? I need total polycount for the scene, but could find only statistics for static meshes. :poly134:
ya i have about 40 ref images of this scene and they all have different lighting...its a huge pain in the a**. My instructor stuck me with a saturated blue look. This lighting set up im using is temporary as this is part of a larger scene. I will eventually move all of this to another level.
Nice to see someone having the good taste of working on this lovely concept! :) I would try to work some more on your lightning and really nail the feeling of the scene before starting to get to technical with the materials and etc. Because at the moment the scene really lacks from having really harsh shadows.
Congrats man! I still remember the first piece of art work I ever saw from you, the Aliens scene from the "Scene from a Movie Challenge". Its been great to follow your art work since then, you've really progressed a lot over the years. Welcome to Blizzard!
All of these characters look like they exist in the same universe, are you working on something? Your last two environment pieces are fantastic. I would love to make the crashed spaceship scene in 3d and I can easily see making a game level on the village scene. Great concepts, really evocative.
Hi Your work is very cool! But I think there is a problem with your lighting. In your reference, every light has is importance to make the scene realistic and logic. And in your scene, we can see big neon, but they don’t project any light, or the area of light are too small for the biggest neons
