Just another quick update M3A1 Ready for Ingame (Normal & Spec Map, rigged for Physx controls) Turntables http://www.1944d-day.com/images/tanks/M3A1/turntables/M3a1.mov (15 megs) Images MG for ontop, with custom fitting ( you can mount it onto a tri pod, or simply rest it on another object your call)
Every system has a limit. The point is however, how the dev team handles that limit. I only need to point at God Of War 2 and the spec they had to work with to prove that one. The PS2 is what, at LEAST 5x lower power wise than the Wii, ON PAPER... Yet GOW2 still looks better than any Wii game to date.
I was planning on using a 2k sheet. probably a little high but its a personal piece so I don't care too much. generally you don't get to make the choice, your given a spec and you squeeze the most you can from it. if you want a guide take a look at an existing title and see what they used.
The shoulder support is rubber actually. i´ll take a look into the wood, but it might be due the spec. the stock is usually painted with varnish and usally quite glossy like on every russian weapon i can tweak it tho. the receiver actually a very rough finish where you can see the CNC machineing. or can you be more…
Thanks, Decided to go with a bare metal realistic type look. I think I've nailed the metal for the diffuse for now, the spec needs a lot more work but I'm only about an hour into progress. I'm still finding it difficult to break up the color because right now its gray all over. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Ok perspective. Starting on the texture... I think I will go for low wear only (not many scratches or marks) 2048x2048 btw Needs a spec map badly I wish I had a better screen Edit: took a look at these pics on my laptop screen(brighter, more contrast, newer etc) And the texture looks so dull:(
I appreciate all the help and crit you guys are giving me. I'm listening and taking in all of your guy's input....so here's an update. There's no Spec...er, I think it's the one from the old board...forgot to change it in UDK. Also, forgot the scratch marks from wheel bite. What do you guys think?
Thanks a lot guys, glad you like it rumblesushi, this all started out just to see if i could translate a piece of mirrors edge concept art to hand held specs, this was the result: I was having a lot of fun keeping it low, so i just kinda kept the same theme when i moved on to the outdoor environment
put a map in every slot. make sure there is a normal map even if it is not the one for the model, just use any one or flood fill a bitmap with r127 g127 b255 blue so it will be flat, for spec just use a black bitmap. i have had problems with other shaders when trying to view them with blank map channels.
Ryno: Yeah I've heard conversations like that one before!:) Here's the specs for my problem machine... Dell intel pentium 4 cpu 3.20 2gb of ram duel monitors geforce 7900gtx 512mb ram forceware: 83.91 got the oppurtunity to try out a quadro fx, gonna give this a go see if it makes any difference.
