HDD failure is a fact of life even with SSD. What you do to prepare for it is the thing that matters most. Picking up a SSD big enough to hold an OS is at least $70 (16GB). -

Harddrive speed is also a big factor. I noticed a big jump in performance whenI installed an SSD. If you can get a SSD and set the scratch disk to it at least that would improve the performance. -

+1 for SSD I remember booting up 3DS Max at school and on my home computer (that has a SSD) and the load times are night and day. It might cost more but it's worth every cent. -

I'm hoping for a hybrid ssd hdd system to speed up streaming, games are getting bigger and I don't see ssd being cheap enough by it self to allow be to install a bunch of games. -

I think that's what your problem is. I know you think you've got this all down because you saw a couple Youtube videos and read a magazine, but I swear to you that many scientists are debating the validity of different parts of evolution and some of the validity of evolution itself. Bummer they moved it back to San Jose. There were some crazy nights last year, with San Francisco hosting the show. And that's really all I care about, getting smashed with my game industry folk.
