its caused by your bind/skin pose not being in the same place/pose as your mesh. to stop it happening you need to do this... In skin, go to the advanced rollout and diable "always deform" - this will put the mesh back to where it thinks it actually is Move the mesh so it matches up with your skeleton when its in its bind…
In general the way to create a skeleton in Maya is to create it in the Orthographoic view, in pieces and then move those pieces by their root bones to where they should be, and then hit CTRL P to parent them to the chains that should be higher on the hierarchy, Then use the "Reset Joint" command on the tool bar,and then…
Oh no, please don't!!!... I felt like giving up too, because my 2 entries are both targeted for much younger gamers so they're *nothing* like any of the work by the "big boys"... but kids and gamers are all young at heart - just look at the success of "angry birds" and it's so simple!!... I know this is an old thread but it partains to exactly what I'm struggling with now. Let me start from the beginning in explainning me issue. I'm trying to port a model from The Witcher 2 into Skyrim. The witcher model had a different skin pose(?) from the one Skyrim models use but there was not skeleton, no rigging. So…

I would assume that for it to be a great timesaver it would need to have a solid way to accept all kinds of motion files (bvh, fbx ...) so that even a small studio or…
thanks for all the tips. collected some planar and proportional references from over the internet, big S curvy shapes > planes > anatomy......got it. learning all that muscle shape, origin-insertion stuff did get me into that interlocking muscle mindset so it's awesome to be on track before making too many mistakes. (DAY…
Thanks for bringing that up! we can do skeletons as long as that would make sense. (and that would be less work to do which would be easier) I wanted to do the bodies to help sell the scene that this battle recently happened, but with the skeletons it would imply that this battle would of happened a long time ago... so my…
Awesomeness! - Not sure what happened to the feet, hopefully they're buried in the ground? - Careful with the use of black as a shadow color, probably stick to a darker value of the surrounding colors instead. - Have you rigged him up yet? Low poly joints/skeletons are a science unto themselves and one that is best left up…
