For learning anatomy do I learn in 2D or 3D?
I am trying to learn character design for 3D. I try to make at least a sculpt a day in Zbrush. I know it is important to learn anatomy but I am not sure if it is better to try to make the anatomy in zbrush or to do it on traditional paper and pencil. Could I get some advice please? -

@yameii17 Well learning how to draw, let alone anatomically can present a unique set of challenges for those starting out but needn't be an overall grind of a process so "Fun With A Pencil" by Andrew Loomis, I'll highly recommend as a helpful introduction to the discipline. -

Don't neglect traditional art skills. The core skills in all art disciplines are observation and composition. You develop those skills faster with a pencil/crayon/handfuls of your own poop and a flat surface than you do trying to fight software. -

I clicked onto the concept work too ;') Buy a sketch book, buy a nice pencil an get going. Look into real life drawing classes, draw still life and work up your fundamentals. Just keep at it and you'll get what you put in. *is typing with a paintbrush since well yeah. -

Draw with pencil and paper, draw in photoshop, do sculpts while looking at an anatomy book, etc. Just do art and youll get better and understand art more. Drawing in 2D is less about applying it to 3D and more about understanding shape, structure, value, and form. These are the basis of all visual art. -

that actually sounds way less practical than using it for art.. i mean come on. the US wastes money on the stupidest shit. super dancing shocks.. almost as bad as the 1 million dollar pen nasa developed to write in space... guess what russia used?? fucking pencils.. very cool stuff.. -

I'd rather do a Saturday, but if Sunday works for more people then I can deal. Either way, that date(s) works for me. Shall we provisionally pencil in that weekend? Does that work for those traveling from out of state / further afield? -

keep a pencil on your desk, every time you wanna boolean just stab yourself with it. i'm not saying never ever boolean, but i would say untill you are able to model something manualy then you should not use boolean to shortcut it. -

All the ones here are from photos, a couple of the pencils may have been from imagination/memory. Its been a long while since iv had the chance to get in front of a life model but something I want to/should do again.
