Physique and CS are band-aid solutions left over from a time when Max did not have a proper IK solution or a functional skin modifier. Not to say that Physique and CS are bad .. if you like to bake using Betty Crocker.
I rig (poorly /with Ik's) my char's with a (poor) walk cycle or something normally. Save's the t-pose madness. I do suggest the SDK thread though. That is pretty good for rigging practice.
Have you tried building the rig using Cat? You get FK/IK hybrid blend for free. The axis locks should just work as simply as ticking the axis you want to lock.
Using an IK chain I think is the effect you are going for, not used max to rig in years so this video will probably explain it better than I could! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zhb6N3IWf58
People started buying laptops instead of desktops years ago. People are starting to buy smartphones/tablets instead of laptops now. And it will bel ike that for a few years before the next step really kicks in.
i dont know, seems like maya got lots more coolness, like all of max's polytools, as well as full body ik, now that is super cool. http://downloads.alias.com/mkt/gmk_maya7_fbik.swf
any one know of pose manager like script for Maya that works with Human IK? When I attemtp apply a pose with poseMan 1.3.3 to HumanIK, only the lower body is posed. torse and arms remain in default T pose.
Ha that looks awesome! For the hose you could use a spline ik system similar to how you would rig a spine. For ropes and hoses this works great because the hose will maintain the smooth shape of the curve no mater how you pose it.
"Bottle Opener Building". You gotta go up it. It's totally worth it, just ask Ike or Daniel when you get there they'll take you. Have fun, and don't be afraid of the food eat anything and everything:) The food there was amazing!! B
Ah, there is a program named unlocker that unlocks stuff in win xp x86, (probably the one you're talking about, too). I was trying to use it on my windows (xp x64) but it only works on 32 bit versions or somethingl ike that, unfortunately.
