Maybe but I think it's more probably that for one of the update days they'll announce the winners and then release on the 12th and even more probably that they'll stick to their schedule and announce the winners on the 12th with an update containing the winners on that day or a few weeks later. -

I don't think Autodesk supports Maya PLE anymore, it went the same way as GMax. Other free options are Softimage Mod Tool which is up to version 7.5.
