I stopped updating this thread but I finished it a while ago, so here it comes. I am very happy that I "finished" the scene in 10 weeks, but I am not very proud of the detailing part of my assets, maybe for the future I will choose a simpler scene
Looks great! As for your lighting/rendering problem...maybe stop trying to solve both problems with one render? Light the scene to show off the mood you want and to display the scene as a whole. Then show off the pieces, lit for detail, in individual beauty renders...Best of both worlds!
The vertex painting was a nice touch and it has decreased the the noise in your textures. But I thing you have to many scratches and grunge noise in your alpha. It's just making your scene look weird. Also, there seems to be no AO in the scene, the pipes have no shadow when connecting with the wall.
Made a gif linked below to better illustrate what is going on and also attached a screenshot of the model loaded in new scene with sky light and one directional to show that the shadows behave correctly at first, then at some point the light breaks and the scene no longer lights correctly. http://i.imgur.com/3rmp5fR.gif .
Teamed up with [HP] on the Game Artist - Scene from a Movie Competition http://www.game-artist.net/forums/scene-movie-competition/8708-sfam-weyland-corp.html Hadley's Hope from Aliens Making modular pieces which he will be importing into Crytek2 Engine. Last nights progress
ruz the plugin/shader I did will fix the viewport for max. its just a matter of someone at 3ps finding the time to make a nice sample scene with the shaders features. Which given they are all busy is hard ;) But without a nice sample scene, it's a bit ugly to release a realtime shader.
and still working on the individual assets, but here's the chair and what i have so far :) . Any input is greatly appreciated! :D Especially on the idea of the scene all together. Still trying to think what i could add to a scene to make it feel more together and interesting. :D
I was thinking about it. But I can't remember many scenes that didn't involve the refinery or it floating through space. The former is waaaay to much work and the latter doesn't seem as dynamic. Once the modeling is done, I'll go back through the movie though and check for all the shuttle scenes.
I decided to Upload all of my old works.professional and personels. Here is one of them.I did this stereo scene for one of the best Turkish newspaper Milliyet. Also i Did more than 40 other stereo scenes... Use a 3d Glasses to watch :) All we gonna dieeeeee
As Snader said, your scene needs more of this kind of roots "exploding" the brickfloor. You should contrast the lighting a little bit more, right now it's looking a little bit too washed out. Other than that I really like the color and architecture your using on this scene.
