I think, the difference between Ipisoft and recording Kinect motions streamed into Mobu is, that the latter uses the realtime motion provided by the SDK, while Ipisoft has its own solver, which doesnt work in realtime, but the results are much cleaner from my short experience
I suspect they'll integrate something based on the tech. Epic aren't focused purely on games or even full realtime work these days - throw enough hardware at the problem and you'll be able to run a hair sim at near realtime which will be great for previs /kids TV etc..
Could you confirm that the vfx has to be rendered out from a realtime engine as I've seen speculations on wether this is the case or not. If it does not have to be realtime, I seriously need to rethink my plans :) You can render in Maya but we will be evaluating whether it is real time limitations.
I think a composite map will only blend properly at render time? I don't think its a realtime viewport effect? There might be some other viewport shaders that blend in realtime, like the 3point shader, XOXOXodolo's shader (however you spell his name) or ShaderFX.
I personally cant wait till raytracing hits the realtime world at reasonable speeds. well be free of all this crap then. A while back i found an indie engine that raytracted Final gather and reflections in realtime. think it was called Aruna. cant find a trace (har har)of it on google.
Those realtime vray renders are so noisy, and raw GPU power is only improving so much a year, I doubt that's going to be the long term solution. People are already using UE4 for a ton of architectural visualization, even though they could use Vray RT for realtime interaction with clients.
Congrats on the update, that painter tool looks niiicee! I would really like to see a realtime video though... specially when it comes to the calculations as you update layers etc. because that video is saying it's an 8k texture... kinda have to see it in realtime to believe it. Please more videos and no timelapse!!!
It seems Maya 2013.5 or the ubershader supports shadows realtime shadows.Did u use depth mapped or raytraced shadows on ur model in the viewport?Sadly,I am using maya 2013 and the realtime shaders I have tried do not work with shadows in the viewport but the normal shaders work fine.
