Partial answer You can't transfer uv between different meshes topology-wise as uv is basically your unwrapped mesh. You need the same vertices, in the same order, same faces to transfer uv... However, you can reproject a texture between 2 different uv layouts. You need to unwrap your retopo/quad mesh. As for projection, i…
I moved from Florida to Seattle to pursue a job in the
industry. I moved with my Fiancé, my 1 year old son (now almost 2), 2 dogs and
a cat. Granted we wanted to get away from Florida, it has been tough living out
here away from family. I've been working a steady IT job for the past year
while I rebuild my portfolio and…

Hmmm, nice, I'll try to make it work. I have no idea how to make a batch file, but I'll try fiddling around with the command line converter. You can check it out in the link below. It would be pretty fucking awesome if DDS conversion was integrated with the tool though, that alone would justify getting a license for…

I got a little time this morning to work on Oliver a little. Oliver... olive, get it? He's green.... ok. Anyway, here's a low poly view at about 83k polys, without any maps applied. Too bad we can't apply the savings to the pedestal.

If you're looking for something that exists, but is maybe a little more fantastical, have a look at this thread. There is a metric crapton of inspiration here. http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=83455&highlight=real+world+inspiration
I dunno, I'm testing it on a a mesh with 83k verts and a stupid arrangement of geo and uv splits. I'm not seeing any speed differences between using UI and script on this particular mesh or others in the scene (which are much lighter). I can see the cursor flicker between pointer and "thinking" which imma observationally…
