This sounds like it will be good. I hope to hear more about the Valve interview. I read a Gamasutra interview recently with Gabe and Erik Johnson where they talk a lot about their studio culture. It was really illuminating, a recommended read: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/6471/the_valve_way_gabe_newell_and_.php
I would pay cash money to see Kaneda sport a handlebar mustache! I took the liberty of creating it! Yes. I know. That handlebar mustache is ungodly... I blame Japan. Actually in retrospect I think Akira vs Kaneda's handlebar mustache would be pretty epic.
Thanks not man... well what happened was I spilled unplugged everthing with great speed and had it on a towel with a blow dryer immediately......... but after I blew it. I got anxious and fired it up. [EPIC mistake. (I am ill remember! LOLZ)] it then shorted and I was done with. OUCH
Everyone has said so much, but this is really awesome. The lighting is perfect in every corner...no rock left behind :P What does your light setup look like? For the sun: a directional?...Any other fill lights or just epic lightmass skills? Keep it up man!
Erik, keep in mind this is an older game, not "next gen" And yes, basically we don't have cast shadows. We can do some trickery on certain objects, such as using a dark, blurry decal under things (like characters) but for the most part our lighting is pretty simple.
I think the real question here is 'who would win in a fight:a car or a gun'. It would be an epic battle of endurance and wits, but in the end I vote that the gun is destined for victory as the car's rubber hoses and gaskets would fail after a few years of quietly sitting on the field of battle.
Put some meat on that dude! Don't worry about try count throw geometry on there, get some muscle. His legs also look a little short. This guy's gotta be more imposing to match his epic mug shot. Broad shoulders and all that. Sorta like this guy ;)
Rorshach do you have a non-Epic version of that maxstart file? It's something I figure a lot could/would find handy, myself included. Also - whats the purpose of snap-to-grid? This to make sure when working within modular constraints the sizes line up properly?
Ummm... that sucked. Diablo cinematics should be awesome rendered animations, not some low-poly Dragonball Z knockoff. I'll play the game regardless of the cutscenes, but anything less than this is epic fail. [ame= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubD5wkCG07g&feature=player_embedded]Always into the east...[/ame]
Also throw some color in your specular. If you look at any of the epic assets they'll almost always use color in their specs. Another neat trick is multiplying it by 2 in your material so you get some pop when the light hits him. Looks good.
