Hey man good work and keep up with the sculpting. I think some of the body proportions are off... The arms seem a little too long and the body and legs possibly too short? yea, as the jump to 4k becomes more common texture sizes will defnitely go up next generation and 2k/4k maps will be more standard. but even on a 4k monitor, say you had a 4m wall piece in a hallway, you would have to put the entire wall right up to the camera to make use of the 4k map and 4k pixels of your output display.… -

Texel density is easiest to come up with in terms of the following ratio: pixels in your texture to 1 metre in the game world. Windows has pretty weird GPU usage graph. To see what's actually happening you sometimes need to select Compute_0 or Compute_1 from a header drop down list in task manager. But anyway don't expect GPU renderer to be same interactive as CPU one on super big scenes. The complete time could be much quicker still all the GPU… -

Polycounts are not rising to the level that those character are for in game stuff. Those 120k and 80k characters are for the cinematic scenes/close ups. They are not actually the in game character running around in game. That is a lower rez version. 120k character would have more verts on screen than pixels on your TV at… -

Designer is pretty bad at this sort of thing but a couple of thoughts spring to mind... If you start with a tile random using a small number of tiles you could use that to mask other pattern generators together. Combine that with vector displacement and you might get close to what you want. Alternatively the 3d worley… -
