yeah the settings for viewcube are in viewport configuration, just right click in the top left of the viewport where the little plus is and then turn off the viewcube -

Align edge should take care of a big chunk of the mesh with spin edge left to take care of whatever faces need to be isolated. -

Good old viewport canvas! Introduced as a potentially great feature and left to fester in Max purgatory..... Bug could've been gamma related. -

I want the wireframe on the left during edge or poly selection mode in wireframe view. What I get is the wire frame on the right.
