c22: yah, I think your stuff is related to Xnormal or a driver issue with your video card (was reading your post in tech talk). This only affected XP machines, not Vista or Win7. -

Also recommended this too when I was using the baker. I think your issue is ray-distance related, but also maybe it could be these ngons causing the rays/cage to blow out oddly? -

Not to pick at you, but how is Military equipment hard to find reference pictures for? Army surplus, or re-enactment sites have tons of it. Not to mention every other game on the shelf is WW2 or military related. -

Seriously, if you have the opportunity, I would recommend xp64. Vista 64 'seems' good at first but most of these video problems are often related to the bloated nature of the OS, not because of Photoshop itself... -

Everything looks out of scale in relation to other objects, such as the massive window frames. It's great going by the overall design of it; but if you want to make it look better, then try adjusting the sizes of some things. -

Re: Deteriorating eyesight.
I suggest getting nice LCD monitors. I had pretty bad eyestrain-related issues a few years ago, and switching to less eye-melting monitors helped a fair amount.
