Just overviewed this and I have to say this is a very nice thread! I think it can be a huge help for beginners (such as myself) to follow along the steps you have taken to improve your quality!
Thanks Ben, I will take a close look at those. I will probably scrap the dirt and start fresh rather than try and salvage it. In the mean time, here are some steps I was working on:
If you want to be a character artist make sure you step away from your computer for a couple hours every day and do some life/figure drawing and read anatomy books.
Try to grab a sphere and repeat the steps to see if this is what your problem is. I just did it and it is working fine here. Perhaps you hit some button or something :) Good luck with solving this
Update again after a hiatus there. New arms and paw-like hands. Next step is going to retopo the legs and do final tweaks on the basic body shape until I am satisfied.
So, after about a month of environment building i have longer video to show https://youtu.be/AktC8GuDHcI Next step - characters, weapons, fx. Wish me luck! :) Few screenshots:
Thanks Alex, I'm not sure how to store the damage into a variable, I'll look into that. Makes sense though. I was trying to use two nodes and they were stepping on each other I think.
I have never been that active in Game artisans forums. Why dosnt polycount do their own contests? Hope I am not stepping on any toes, just would like to know.
This is really good - I was a big fan of your Temple Scene and this looks like you are stepping it up - your high poly work and textures are even better! Can't wait to see more.
WIP shot of the head tonight. One more pass on it and I'll have to call it done in order to stay on track and move on to the next step. Also got the fedora high poly done tonight.
