thanks pinkbox for that link thats helped so much :) ! cheers for that il put it into practice soon the droplets are just a tiled normal map in the detail slot, nothing fancy was just a happy accident i came across playing around with bits

^he said in the post that he'd be changing it once he gets a new computer. I think it was more for practice sake, not for use, just to get an idea of spec/normal/diffuse. but you really should fix that when you get the chance.
No problem, mate. That's the best thing you can do, practicing, learning, testing. Every little thing you learn adds up exponentially over the years. That's what I've found anyway. And plus, this shit is so much fun to learn! :)
Yeah I already do use the perspective view and vertical Y. It helps, but it still feels very strange to me. Thanks for the tip regarding Shift btw! Helps alot! I guess I'll keep practicing though! Thanks guys!
While the reference does look pretty slick, I believe you should make your own book texture as opposed to slapping on the reference picture. Be a little creative! Practice your modelling and sculpting and come up with your own textures.
Had some free time, so finally finished the base mesh of the entablature. I wanted to make all ornaments by hand for practice, and, honestly, it was not the easiest task. But I did it, and now it's ready to be broken in ZBrush! And how it looks in the scene for now:

Daily Sculpt 02: Had some difficulties with this one so at the end of it all I had to hide my mistakes and move on. Practice makes perfect I suppose and I wont be painting everything black in white I promise ;D.
