Mesh are better all around for performance but using BSP for some basic stuff in your level is not going to kill your FPS. The main thing that is going to kill your FPS is not so much Verts but the cost of drawing the Pixels to the screen.
if you`re only in it for the reveal then just wait for the news to be posted online. It will probably be all over the place. I have the stream opened on my second screen while i work and its cool to see other workflows imo.
Thanks for the crits guys! Reworked the model using your feedback and I have to say the result is much better. It may not be perfect, but I am happy with the basic "shape" of the character. Here's a screen, with wires for a change :) crits always welcome
Working on the roof, and texturing in SP. I need some advice for how should i make the roof, the roof is tileable but how should i make the sides-ends of the roof, how you guys would do this? check screen.
Things are screaming forward with Old Town. I've begun packaging and testing the demo to great success. All the major bugs have been hammered out, and now it's all polish to the finish. With that in mind, here's some new screen shots.
@bkost Thanks man! @kiister07 Hey man, your knight looks great! Yeah, the smoke is just an alpha set on screen in Photoshop. All I did after that was colorize it the same blue as the glowing tip, and crush the whites a bit!
I'm not sure if is the same problems that happened to me before, but go to Lists(on the right side of the screen, below the Item List)>Other Maps and check if there is a "Surface Normal" Map there and delete it.When I had weird shading that used to fix it.
Nice :) love it. Maybe play with the lighting a little bit. Give the display a little bit more bloom or brightness. Also some screens the scene are dark, for me some details of the grenade does not show that great then. But love the grenade. Xenop
yes, big like ben stiller ears, ha! i always miss big things like that when am working in max viewport. only after i see a screen grab, stuff like that really stands out.
My guess is that they just limit the number of actors on screen. And with non-hero NPCs having less fidelity and/or performance-impacting items, so the enemies using hats or helmets in lieu of really nice hair, or if there is hair, using a limited amount.
