As far as I know you can change only vertices size. You can try to use antialliasing in Viewport Configuration. In new max versions, they have outlines around objects so there might be workaround but don't know how much is the Nitrous renderer open for any custom moddifications. The only problem with finding objects, is that if it is old, then the mechanism for keeping the joints from moving when you don't want them to is worn out. Try clay and make a simple object. Legos work well. Bionicles work great too (the joints). In the Bionicle joints I put something called Gorilla Snot to make the joints… -

Looks like you've solved this! For future reference: All models must be triangulated before exporting for view in 3DO. All models must be exported as the object desired for texturing. I have this issue... but i can't remeber why. The more logical way (to me) would be to have the main assets in 3d and only the background objects as simple sprites. So you could even rotate the main objects. If you do the main assets only as sprites they would be flat so you cannot rotate or move them. But maybe i just don´t get what you´re trying to do.
