dude you're not done at all. She needs to be posed, Balboa style at least, with a mini boxing ring for a base. gotta agree on the materials though, everything feels just a little flat and lacking variation. even if you just adjust the lighting/spec it would really help bring out her awesomenessness.
You could have made, instead of that, just do 4-5 of those bricks, spend more time detailing them, and reuse them all over. If you rotate and mirror the duplicates, the gamer should not be able to spot the reuse of those bricks. (also with some color/spec/gloss variation in the texture)
Added a table for the skull to sit on. Overall, not much going on with the table. Will need more set dressing I think, like cobwebs and such. I will be adding chairs next. Table is 2400 tri's, all on a single 1024x1024 with norm and spec. Also sculpted in Zbrush. The blocky eye sockets are stylized and are in the original…
You have a lot of bad pinching and lumpiness, especially on the front end around the hood and grill. If you put a high spec/gloss material on in your viewport and renders they will be easy to spot. As for your questions I can't really answer most, but first and foremost you need to get a clean highpoly model.
Its a good start. You may want to space out the blocks a bit more and flange the backs to get more depth. You could even go as far as generating height map in 3ds max and doing some parallax mapping in UE3. Spec and lighting leave a bit to be desired. Keep it up.
Well, technically I have been "in the dark" for a couple years...still, I've got all the info I wanted...thanks all for your help... ...and Sir Kain, I do know that different game engines mean different specs, as well as hardware diversity...that's why they invented LoD meshes...isn't it? ^>"<^
Indeed, not really worth selling then ! Well, you'll probably find a use for it eventually. I still have my 2009 15inch Macbook, probably of similar specs and it does come in handy from time to time, mostly for light browsing. I suppose an old Mini could be okay as a retro emulation box ...
SHEPEIRO-- thanks! rhoymand-- thanks as well! And this forum is an excellent spot for feedback and resources. I've yet to complete a current-gen (360/PS3 spec) character, but hopefully this'll be it! Once I'm done with him, I can go back to game-ifying my witch... Please, folks, keep the crits coming!!
Hey Dude, here's my humble contribution, made with the SDK of your lovely character. The engine I'm using is more targeted to "next gen" stuff, so I fixed a normal & spec maps quickly, and found out the result was quite nice ... I like when you share your stuff
hmm, I have roughly the same specs as you a 3.4ghz Pent 4 with a gig of ram, and I've never had it crash, other than one time when I accidentally tried to load a lightwave object into it. In fact it's rather zippy, I often have up to 8 documents open with no hit.
