i7-860 with appropriate mobo( ASUS P7P55D-E ) and GTX260. That would be a money saving option too, but it would be better than the i5. -

Yep. System is mostly competent, although my single core Athlon 64 4000+ is getting pretty long in the tooth. Got an 8600 GTX to power the graphics and 3Gb of DDR2 400 for the memory (again, a little archaic). Backface culling is always turned on, I collapse the stack as soon as I'm done with a modifier and I usually work… -

mm, ati have been behind the game driver wise for years now but the new card ranges have been looking pretty impressive. Have the drivers improved at all since the AMD buyout? I'm also in the market for a new GPU, my 8600gt is getting seriously tired and needs to be retired to my HTPC so I was looking at a radeon 5870… -

my last work machine had a quadro something or other... I didn't find it any better than this one that has a 8600gt, but then again, I'm not exactly doing high end anything at my job. -
