I'm determined not to suck at texturing this guy, so I'm practicing on the warhead. Crits and advice on the texture are very welcome. It's 1am so I hope this doesn't actually look terrible and my tired eyes just can't tell :/
congrats dood, but the one suggestion i have is pull back on the noisy details. Give the eye some rest spots. The first character practically has scratches everywhere! and the second's armor is hard to read. too much noise.
Blocking of the lower armor is pretty much done. I've started with the blockin in Marvelous Designer. I'm no pro at this so its a good practice. struggling and learning a lot as I go. Tomorrow ill start blocking the upper torso.
I think that practice or pattern is just awful for innovation too. Like the lay off's at Relic and Vigil the people in charge of managing the money are cutting off ambitious projects and without ambition games will keep their current content limitations.
This is more to just get me in the habit of regular practice and force myself to learn different techniques. But I might change it to one every two days and try to spend a little more time on each one, we will see :)
Its a practice piece, i don't have the skill yet to be able to make things for games. Thanks for the advise, i'm still getting used to the 3DS Max interface and what it can do. The actual tank i was using was this:
Added a body, and am calling the project done. All models are available on Sketchfab. It was a fun practice, though it took longer than expected, haha! model And here it is on ArtStation, should anyone wish to see all finalized images.
if you get into vinyl it'l be for the hobby of it, there's no practical reason nowadays. That said, i've got a few things that havnt been re-issued in a digital format since they were put out 30+years ago, so theres that
goodluck dude.I too am trying to be a good character artist. I dont get much time.so far i have only 1 character in my portfolio. although i get a lot of practice in office work.
BTW, do you mind if I use this for some models at work (finnish army)? Technically it's commercial, but in practice we're obviously not making any money out of it, models will be most probably only used in an internal tank simulator.
