MassFX is incredibly practical, I've been using those scripts as well: http://loran-cg.blogspot.ca/2011/10/kaboom-massfx.html http://loran-cg.blogspot.ca/2011/10/krumbler.html Takes a bit of tweaking but the results are pretty cool.
i think it would be a good practice from the start to try to create characters in a single mesh. pay attention to the neck and shoulder and groin, attach the limbs and head to the body. u can use ur SubD knowledge to the use.
Woooo I haven't updated this in almost a year.... I have been practicing, but mostly drawings and some paintings. I will stop lurking and start posting again, I promise. :D From tonight' 15 minute scribbles:
Haha yeah. I'm not sure what I was thinking on that art test. I'll chalk it up to sleep deprivation. It looked ok on my cintiq but on my other monitor he is practically glowing. Live and learn I guess. :)
I've tried to practice a bit more with material definitions, using metals, paints etc. I feel that my workflow still needs a lot of improvement, but I've definitely learned a lot about masking in Substance Painter. mode
Thanks for feedback! I thought deserts must to be like that. It need to feel boring and emptiness. And i have a lot of problems with textures, i just can't figure out how to work with them and only practice will solve this problem...
Thanks for the info, i think i might do a version for each just to practice the different levels of detail, the tpp low is almost done then lol and the fps ive got plenty of tris left to cut in more detail
Finally these 2 following resources are a must-have in my opinion for a 3d environment artist: http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/store/product/185/Practical-Light-and-Color#.VVju0kaOu9E http://www.hourences.com/product/the-hows-and-whys-of-level-design-2/
hey man, the model turned out real nice- the hand could use a ton of work though,- also I see you have a ways to go on your texture, but it looks like a fun model to practice on at least!
This is my latest practice based on the concept you can see on the photo, Trying to get better using Zmodeler and Live booleans, I hope you like it and any critique or advice is welcome, especially on the texturing and polypainting area.
