Yes. Render 800x800 with AA off. Resize to 400x400 in Photoshop. You could also do this in Max if you wanted to, in a variety of ways. Rendering directly inside the Material Editor is very quick. Avoid advertising buzzwords surrounding monitors (super high contrast 1:100000 is completely false as are most other claims, generally they get away with it from the fact a backlight does allow the monitor to display in that range but only at 1:800-1000 at a time on a good backlit monitor, most I've ever seen out of one is… -

Doublepost, yaay! Got some more work in, redid the materials for the stock, fixed the width of it so it's ,5 instead of ,35 thick (45%-ish addition) which gave the added benefit of getting a stronger angle on those inward bends going towards the front (from top view), woo. Thanks for taking the time man! Took your advice for the helmet. Re modelled using geosphere and cut that from 360 to 122. Then made all of the tubes 4 sided. I took a CGWorkshop with Steven Stahlberg. He was a good mentor and I learnt alot, and I still keep in touch with him.
