I'm no modeller by far, but your trial of going through all the iterations sound to me like you're still learning. Every mistake you make now is a mistake less in the future. As for modelling, I can't answer your dillema  I can't even model a banana
Ok. I will have to look into that some more. Do you think the faint edges will really matter since everything will still bake down to an 8 bit normals map for the foreseable future anyway? Do you ever use this workflow or do you find it to not be worth the trouble?
Have you released a tutorial or step by step on how to do this? Maybe any pages or suggestions on where to look to replicate this stuff? Its mindblowing amazing. Thanks for sharing. I can see now that Substance Designer is the future, better jump on that bandwagon before its too late.
Hah, don't get me started on Square Enix... what about being more organized, putting better people in command to not take 5-8 years in production of a game to launch it? Or even better... What about not doing as large games as that and not calculating the wrong numbers on future planning?
Thanks for the reference, I still need to make a pass on the anatomy for sure. I'll have the anatomy touched up on future posts. Ignore the feet for now, they have received no love yet. I did some scaling according to previous critiques and I think it helped a good bit.
Dang it turned out beautiful! Followed it since the beginning and enjoyed every part of it. I hope you someday let us run around in it but I guess for now I have to settle for a video :D Great work man! Looking forward to follow your future projects.
@TannedBatman Welcome to Polycount! In the future please put the name of the program in your subject line. Experienced users want to share their knowledge, so make it easy for them find your thread. http://polycount.com/discussion/63361/information-about-polycount-new-member-introductions/p1#use
Thanks Paul. ! You're right it doesn't matter how many times it's made, it's great practice and there will always be more games that require an M4. It's one of the most popular weapons in the world used by armed forces and will be a required asset for future games. It still makes a good portfolio piece imo.
The cloth folds on his pants seem a bit unatural. [ame] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6IKYPrHDz0[/ame] Heres a good video i found on ytube on the subject, (even though you might not revisit the already textured version, would be good to keep handy for future reference)
Btw, little tip when it comes to time sheets: Just press ctrl+shift+; in any given spreadsheet cell to make a timestamp. If you do this for the start and end of every task and are able to make a simple description of said task, your future self and their bookkeeper will love you.
