tim, frostbite is one of the vanilla ONS maps, i only have the vanilla OOTB maps atm, no bonus packs etc. frostbite is like 1 node and the two cores and is set on a frozen over lake. -
Grayscale to color in real time with small one row of pixels lut texture?
I wonder would it be calculative or memory expensive to turn grayscale image to RGB same way Gradient node in Substance designer works ? or just by using LUt image like 8x1 pixels texture? Why we use 2k RGB textures for base color instead of just one channel packed together with roughness and AO + some tiny LUT image if we… -

Your target image doesn't have light from behind, it's coming from the left. Also, make sure to light the cove backdrop, to get that even/bright tone. -

Check out http://www.offloadstudios.com/core/. They have some of the best print quality out there from what I've seen. It does come with a pretty steep price though. -

Re: V-Ray settings reseting themselves.
Make sure you don't have another vraysettings node in your scene, its possible for them to come in via references or scene assemblies. When there's more than one render settings it can crap itself. -
