Alright I'll try creating a real sword first then. The problem I'm having is I don't know how to go about creating wear patterns and dust and surface variation. I've read up a lot on PBR and understand it fairly well. It's just applying that knowledge that I'm struggling with. Like using a crappy brush to create a grimy…
Hi ! New update with some new objects ! I didn't touch the lighting and I know I have some error on it. Of course I plan to change that and apply your nice advice on the lighting :) Enjoy ! @Kid.in.the.Dark : Thanks for your advice and support ! I competently agree with you and I like the Color corrected you did ! Like I…
What kind of places are you applying for? Right now your focus is very, very broad, which might be desirable to some small studios, but is going to be considered a liability at most large studios. Right now I think your two strongest pieces are the female study (though something feels a bit off about her hips that I can't…
The UV bounding area in max is always 0 to 1, you can change the dimensions to be rectangular but the UV square still reads 0 to 1. The UV square gets distorted to whatever the default setting is, or whatever the texture map that is being displayed. When unwrapping non-square materials I will create a custom checker…
Looks like that detail overlay you've put on in Photoshop is nuking a lot of the underlying normalmap detail. How are you applying that? If you're generating from the NVidia filter, make sure that you set the layer's blend mode to Overlay, and to Image -> Adjustments -> Levels, change the channel to "Blue" in the drop-down…
You should post pics directly here but... Lot's of ways to map. I personally like to break things down into manageable little chunks. At the bottom of your tower you have a cylinder on each side (clocks?). detach those from the mesh and apply a cylindrical map. Then apply UvUnwrap, move the uv's off to the side... do that…
I have posted this in technical talk , and I thought that I would try my luck posting it on this thread aswell. I found this nice little tutorial about making custom cubemaps but mine doesnt seem to work properly :s [ame=" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1Zh3qDyXOY"]Chrome Material (Part 1) - UDK Tutorials by Javahawk -…
Great progress! But yeah, I know it's fucking hard to get your self visible to recruiters and whatnot cause of lacking experience. I guess it comes down to timing. I think the best chance to get a position is to manage to apply to a company that is just ramping up for a production. That's when they need "producing" artist…
It's kind of hard to think of suggestions without seeing whats going on but I'll throw out somethings. What happens when you apply a "Edit Normals" modifier and click reset? There might be some other tools in Edit Normals that could help automate stuff. Are the faces actually randomly flipped or are they all inside out? If…
Actually I can only guess what you mean, but I'll reply anyways In order to see the changed proportions of the unwrap box you need to apply a bitmap with matching proportions. (I couldn't tell If you found that out already from your "ah, " comment or just wanted to correct the terminus ) I created some dummy textures once…
